General Info

This is the first year we've tried using a blog to show photos of the classes AND get your instructions to you.   If you need help in printing out the class instructions, we can forward them on to you via email - or by US mail.   We will also be sending your  invoices by email, as much as possible.  Please be patient with us as we  perfect this new system.  We think it will be more efficient and allow you better access to the Retreat information.  Refer to your printed brochure for more information, if necessary.  Use the registration form in that brochure to register for the Retreat.   More questions - contact Bonnie at bonnieamiles@gmail.com
  Here are a few pointers:

* The BLOG ARCHIVE, on the right, is like a Table of Contents. Click on any
title to see the picture or information for that class. The classes are listed
in order of their time being taught. (#50 really IS being taught on Tuesday.)
*  If you want to see all the classes at once and scroll through them, click
on "September" in the Archive section.
*  If you need to enlarge the class directions, click on them and they will come
up on the page without the picture. Click on them again to zoom in and
enlarge them for printing.  Then click the "back" button to return to the blog.
*  In some cases, specific cutting instructions will come from your teacher
after you've registered for the class.

50 Pineapple

Teacher: Bonnie
Day: Tuesday
Time: 1:00 pm

If you've never used a Pineapple Ruler, this is the time to try it.  You'll make a perfect Pineapple block every time... and you could do this without a pattern.  You choose the size of center, and the width of your strips to determine the size the of the finished block.    Changing the placement of colors, makes the Snail's Trail instead.
Teacher can bring extra rulers, if you need one.  Note that on your registration.

This is a technique class, so participants should not worry about cutting a lot of fabric before class.    Equipment should include: Machine, thread and all cutting supplies.   A PINEAPPLE RULE (ruler) is required.  If you don't have one, please contact Bonnie and she will order one for you.
Fabric: At least 8 strips each of 2-1/2" x WOF lights and the same of darks.   You may want to experiment with different widths - and if so, bring (6 light and 6 dark)  2" or 3" or 3-1/2" strips to try.  I like to have a little extra to play with.

Teacher: Susan Greenhalgh
Day: Wednesday
Time: 9:00 am

           Twisted Sister

This quilt is SO fun!  Take a ‘Charm Pack’ or a ‘Layer Cake’, cut it up into pieces, sew it back together, cut it up again and twist and turn it into something even your “Twisted Sister” would love.  Add sashings and four patch corner posts, and it becomes a table runner or a lap quilt.  So fun made from all the fun, wild, “Bakery” goods you’ve been dying to try lately.  You can plan on finishing most of this quilt in class.

Size:  6 block table runner:  32” x 42”
          9 block lap quilt:  42” x 42”

Special Tools:
O’Lipfa Square
(6 ½ inch)

Cutting List:   Pattern $3.00

1.  Blocks:  2 Charm Packs or one Layer Cake.    Buy more if you want to make it bigger.  If using a layer cake, cut 24 - 5” squares (for 6 block table runner) or 36 - 5” squares (for 9 block lap quilt).  You will need 4 squares for each block, 2 of one color/pattern that match, and 2 of another matching color/pattern.

2.  Sashings:  may use various fabrics from the layer cakes, or a matching Jelly Roll or yardage will work wonderfully. Cut 17 (24 for 9 patch)  2 ½ strips in various colors/patterns that are 8 ½ inches long

3.  Outer border #1:  1/3 yard of complimentary print

4.  Outer border #2:  1/2 yard of print from your pattern line.  If you are making your quilt bigger, you will need enough for the length of your border.

5.  Backing: complimentary fabric for the size quilt you’re making.

If you have questions, be sure to call me.  This quilt is ‘twisted’ and fun!
